What is Compassion: Veg Buzzwords Defined
Vegans and animal rights supporters throw around a lot of buzzwords that, I fear, have begun to lose their true meaning. We’ve altered some to fit our own agenda, while others are repeated so often that their power is diminished. Let’s take a brief timeout to re-learn the actual dictionary definition of a few of these. * Animal - any member of the kingdom Animalia, comprising multicellular organisms that have a well-defined shape and usually limited growth, can move voluntarily, actively acquire food and digest it internally, and have sensory and nervous systems that allow them to respond rapidly to stimuli
* Activism - the doctrine or practice of vigorous action or involvement as a means of achieving political or other goals, sometimes by demonstrations, protests, etc.
* Change - to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of something different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone
* Compassion - a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering
* Cruelty - a deliberate infliction of pain and suffering; feelings of extreme heartlessness
* Diet - food or feed habitually eaten or provided
* Free - enjoying personal rights or liberty
* Humane - characterized by tenderness, compassion, and sympathy for people and animals, esp. for the suffering or distressed
* Inhumane - lacking humanity, kindness, compassion, etc.
* Lifestyle - the habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards, economic level, etc., that together constitute the mode of living of an individual or group
* Meat - the edible part of anything
