Time for Some Homemade Bread
As a child, my mom got a breadmaker for Christmas one year. We only made our own loaves a handful of times, but it introduced me to the fact that there were other options to store-bought, pre-sliced breads.
Fast forward to six months ago. I started realizing that, although most packaged breads are vegan, most are also pumped up with high fructose corn syrup - something that I try to avoid. Around this same time, my good friend Kelly (who is probably starting to realize that I consider her a role model and mentor) got her family a bread machine and started making her own loaves regularly.
Jump to the present. Mom still had the old breadmaker in her cabinet! Now, I make my own bread. I’ve made french, pita, and garlic sundried tomato breads. At this very moment, I have dough rising to make my own whole wheat pizza crust that I plan on topping with tomatoes, broccoli, and Morning Star’s ground beef meal starter.
