Mr. McCartney’s Been “Looking for Changes”

by Sally Andersen

I’ve got some lyrical inspiration for you this morning (or evening, depending on where you are and when you are reading). Long time vegetarian and animal advocate Paul McCartney wrote this post-Beatles number for his 1993 solo album Off the Ground:

LOOKING FOR CHANGES

I saw a cat with a machine in his brain
The man who fed him said
He didn’t feel any pain
I’d like to see that man take out that machine
And stick it in his own brain
You know what I mean
bunny.jpg
I saw a rabbit with its eyes full of tears
The lab that owned her had
Been doing it for years
Why don’t we make them pay for every last eye
That couldn’t cry its own tears
Do you know what I mean?

When I tell you that we’ll all be
Looking for changes
Changes in the way we treat our fellow creatures
And we will learn how to grow

Well I tell you that we’ll all be
Looking for changes
Changes in the way we treat our fellow creatures
And we will learn how to grow
When we’re looking for changes

I saw a monkey that was learning to chokemonkey.jpg
A guy beside him gave him cigarettes to smoke
And every time that monkey started to cough
The bastard laughed his head off
Do you know what I mean?

When I tell you that we’ll all be
Looking for changes
Changes in the way we treat our fellow creatures
And we will learn how to grow

When we’re looking for changes
We’re looking for changes
We’re looking for changes
We’re looking for changes in the way we are

I was once a great fan of Pauls work, even the silly love songs….

Paul used to write songs that meant very little to anybody but him, or songs that you could attach meaning to at your leisure….and they SOUNDED GREAT…

Not any more….I am a PMcC fan, but I’m certainly not going to change my entire lifestyle just to suit his ideas….

PLEASE PAUL…..write stuff like you used to

“So I quit the police department,
    Got myself a steady job,
And though she tried her best to help me,
    She would steal,
    What she could not rob!

    Didn’t anybody tell her?
    Didn’t anybody see?
Sunday’s on the phone to Monday,
Tuesdays on the phone to me….OH YEAH”

    Poetry….musically and lyrically….WHAT HAPPENED…

Once there was a way, to get back home,
Sleep pretty darling do not cry,
And I will sing a lullabyee!”

Ahh…those were the tunes….he’s not the most prolific composer last century for nothing…..Micheal Jackson had nothing on him, and Paul could screw girls….unlike a certain black and then gradually white performer, fathering children just to get rid of a deserved reputation as a ROCKSPIDER.
