March Equals Death for Thousand of Baby Harp Seals
What a beautiful month March is - flowers can begin to stretch to their roots, heavy winter wear begins to change into lighter spring fashions, and Canadian fur hunters head out to beat to death hundreds of thousands of baby harp seals.

These adorable creatures are ran at full speed, while they barely move, and brutally clubbed and spiked in the head because some people think their fur looks fashionable.
More people in the fashion business, however, are beginning to stand out and say that it’s not worth the blood shed. The latest is America’s Next Top Model judge and famed photographer Nigel Barker.
Barker went to Canada to photograph these scared baby seals with the Humane Society recently in hopes of enlightening the public - especially the fashion industry - about the cruel nature of this culture.
HSUS has a page dedicated to Protect Seals where you can watch video footage, see more of Nigel (shown on location with the HSUS in the photo here), read news articles about the Canadian fur trade, and learn about how you can make a difference.
Through PETA, Pamela Anderson is also adding the seals to her long list of animal rights issues with a petition asking the Canadian government to step in and help, that she is asking you to sign.

You don’t need to be an activist to know that there’s something wrong about clubbing a defenseless animal on the head for sport. Even if you’re into hunting, what kind of challenge is a seal? It’s just bizarre that people get a kick out of it. Go get a Playstation, play some Call of Duty 4, and stop bothering helpless animals.
BTW- I love how haters tell animal lovers not to preach, while haters do a lot of preaching themselves. Hypocritical much? “You don’t have a house full of stray animals? Heretic! If you say you love animals, you should be tripping all over cats in your home.” Sweetie, I love beer, but I don’t fill my house with a million bottles.

And Im not an animal ‘hater’….I remember the look in the eyes of the first cow I ever saw killed in an abbotoir….
I uttered a silent buddist prayer for the animals we had to kill for food every day….but I had to harden myself, and realise that these character filled creatures would get treated far worse by natural predators. And, we need them for FOOD……
I SALUTE YOU FOR DEFENDING YOUR BELIEFS
May the Buddha, in His infinate wisdom SMILE ON YOU
Good luck….

Just one more thing worth mentioning…
In my job as a TRIMMER of beef caracasses, I ran across many abnormalities present in the guts of the cows themselves…..I have personnally cut CANCERS and other growths from these animals….
Just because they have a vegetable based diet, this does not make them IMMUNE to the very same abnormalities that affect humans…
Small warning for those that believe a vegetarian diet will do this for them…
I think it is NOBLE for people to be vegetarians, but, there are a lot of misconceptions concerning the healthy aspects…
Health is determined in humans as much by ATTITUDE as it is by anything else. This is something unique we have, the power of our MINDS. It’s an aspect of our health that is noted but not studied in relation to animal diseases, simply because it’s very difficult for us to tell what kind of mental approach animals have, if any, to their own health standards….
Regards to the veges and vegans

And I think Karen’s point of clubbing defenceless animals for SPORT is a telling one…
Where we are, in Australia, there are plenty of feral pests to eliminate (wild pigs for imstance) that can satisfy this age old urge some of us have to hunt for sport…I don’t agree with hunting for sport either, but some find this to be a recreational pastime worth putting into practice. If it’s a PEST, then fine, otherwise it’s testosterone gone mad, because it is mainly MEN that indulge in this pastime…
Regards
Christopher.

I think my comment on the publicity seeking “stars” that indulge their ego’s ahould be left for all to see….How much of their time would be spent in this practice WITHOUT the camera there, and what percentage of their incomes actually go to furthering this cause?
I think it’s a point worth keeping, don’t you?
