I am Not a Plastic Bag
Have you seen the Anya Hindmarch designer grocery tote that says “I’m not a plastic bag” on it? It’s created quite a stir. Designed by a famous designer to bring awareness to the plastic bag’s effect on the environment. Originally only a few bucks, the bags sold out instantly, and have been seen on arms of celebrities and reselling on E-bay for hundreds of dollars.
National Geographic says that “calculations extrapolated from data released by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in 2001 on U.S. plastic bag, sack, and wrap consumption, somewhere between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year. … [And] like candy wrappers, chewing gum, cigarette butts, and thousands of other pieces of junk, millions of the plastic bags end up as litter. Once in the environment, it takes months to hundreds of years for plastic bags to breakdown.”
So take your tote with you; many stores even offer an incentive if you do!

I’ll admit I’m bad when it comes to this. I get plastic bags, because I use them all over my house.
