Hunter Targets Me: Fellow Blogger Calls Yours Truly ‘Misinformed’

by Sally Andersen

Wow. I am stunned.

I was the target of a hunter on his hunting Web site back in December. This writer - who belongs to the same blogging network as I - wrote a post called Misinformed People that highlighted Living Without Meat as an example of someone with “a site dedicated to their lifestyle … to force that choice on everyone else.”
target.jpg
Now I know that this was not a personal attack, because it is clear from this man’s statements that he has never read LWM. He clearly did not take time to note that I am for health and personal education; I am against the confinement, abuse, and mistreatment of animals. I am for nutrition without meat (which is 100 percent healthy, and does not need to include meat substitutes); I am against causing suffering.

I write for people who are interested in animal rights, vegetarianism, and health. I do not write with the mindset that I am pushing my beliefs and agenda. If someone is inspired by me to try a vegetarian diet, I would be thrilled, but if a meat eater wants to borrow some of my recipes - that’s great, too. I have never sought out to taunt, name call, deceive, argue with, or harass anyone with opposing views.

I have never offered my readers a direct link to a site with views against mine where they could leave a comment.

Wow, he sounds like that chip on his shoulder is getting heavy.

  2. Christopher Says:

    Fair enough….

But dont claim any right to know more about NUTRITION than the rest of us….

I think it’s vegetarians with “chips on their shoulder” that make sites like this so distasteful…….Try selling your ideas about nutrition to me…look at my other comments for that…for now, I think you ARE misinformed….but, as OSCAR WILDE once said

“I don’t agree with you, sir, but BY GUM, I’ll defend your right to say it…”

    Have a nice vege….

  3. Irene Says:

I am the first to say that LWM does NOT ‘force’ their opinion on anyone. I am trying to get healthier, and vegetarian recipes go a looooong way towards eating healthier and losing weight without feeling deprived. Sally herself has told me that my cravings for seafood are ok, and not to feel guilty for them. She is the most understanding and non (for lack of a better term) militant vegetarian minded person I’ve become friends with. I still eat seafood occasionally but, thanks to Sally, I’ve discovered so many high protein, high fiber substitutes for meat, that I feel satisfied even when sticking to my reduced calorie diet.
Sally deserves all the praise she can get, and, from my personal experience, NONE of the criticism. Differing views aren’t ‘wrong’ views by definition… they’re just different.

  4. Christopher Says:

    As I say, I will defend anyone’s “right” to a differing opinion….

But, I will not acknowledge the “small furry animal syndrome”….UGLY animals seem to have no place in the universe of animal rights. Top of the tree as we are, these animals are FOOD….they have no higher thought processes that can make them truly adapable to that which is going on now. You either adapt as a species, or you go extinct…

IF we could talk to the animals, maybe we may have a differing view as a species….Our nearest relatives, CHIMPS come the closest to this ideal, but, they have no aspect planning for the future as humans do…..as their habitats dissappear, so do they. Sorry fact.

One of our unique aspects is that as our habitat began to change, so did we….and our diet at the same time. When you can prove beyond doubt that vegetarianism is a better way , nutritionally speaking for HUMANS, then you will probably make a convert out of ME….

Until then, and only until then, our bodies are actually still set up to process MEAT..

As I have said before, when we develop a second stomach, and swap our incisor teeth for GRINDERS, we may well approach a stage in our development that suits a plant diet. But, I’m afraid, our physical evolution is working in the OPPOSITE direction. Vegetraianism and all it’s forms are simply another health FAD….

    Have a nice vege….

  5. Shannon Says:

This Christopher guy is someone I’d love to see a picture of because his postings are so whacked and far out there I see this guy in my head with serious anger management/personal identity issues. I don’t go on a Christian board and try to convince them the evil of their ways because I’m not a Christian. Why don’t I? Because I have a life. I have hobbies. I don’t need to convince others how they should think or live just because it’s different than I do. I don’t get what compels a person to do that other than way too much time on their hands?

  6. Christopher Says:

AHEM….I am currently working, and earning a good QUID….but it’s an old man’s job, and I miss my avtive lifestyle that my MEATWORKER job gave me….so, in between driving people around this town, I retrain to work on OILRIGS…..

From my experience on silly chat sites, I can type just as fast as I can think….and I do think quicker than most…..

I have a lot of projects, generally speaking. Accussing me of having nothing better to do with my time is a sure fire bet that you are losing the debate….personal attacks are a sign of mental activity reduced to ZERO…

If you can’t take criticism from people who DONT share your views, don’t reply…

Can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

    Take that….

  7. Shannon Says:

lol, I seriously have giggles. What’s next? “I’m rubber, you’re glue, whatever I say bounces off me and sticks to you?” Or “I know you are but what am I, infinity?” Lol.
Christopher needs a nap and his binky back.

  8. Christopher Says:

Instead of attacking me personally, why not use the oppurtunity to showcase exactly WHY you think I’m wrong, and further your cause at my expence….

  9. Christopher Says:

of course , you cant….thats one nothing to me….

  10. Christopher Says:

Sharpen my claws on people like you….academically speaking

  11. Christopher Says:

This debate has been all one sided….I won…prove my assertions incorrect or admit defeat…

  12. Christopher Says:

No animals were harmed in this debate….a debate the vegetarians lost….

You WILL post comments about WISE choices, attacking hunters and such….

Vegetarianism is FEMINISM by another name…

    Thats TWO nothing….to me!

    Have a “nice” day!

  13. Christopher Says:

What…no comment to that one?….thats THREE nothing to me!

I can keep scoring points at your expence all day long!

  14. Meg Says:

um…you don’t score points cause people stop playing pathetic “I’m better than you” games. maybe they decided to take the higher road and move on with their lives rather than waste time on an ignorant asshole.

That being said. I am not a vegetarian. However, i have taken an interest in becoming one. It’s a decision that has not been influenced by this site or this author alone. Yes, she has been a huge help in providing information about nutrition and recipes needed to make this transition in my life, but it has still been a decision based on my own opinions and feelings. And by no means do i feel like this site attacks meat eaters or forces her ideals on anyone. I mean, you’d have to come to the site to read about it..and why would you come to the site if you weren’t interested in vegetarianism? If anyone is stirring the pot and causing trouble, its this guy who wrote the article to begin with. And you, Mr. Christopher, are only perpetuating the discourteousness.

I’m not sure what it is you’re trying to prove here. Are you angry cause theres people that don’t eat meat? How is their lifestyle effecting you? Its none of your business what they eat or what they chose to do with their lives. This is a site for people who want to know more about “living a vegetarian lifestyle, from recipes and dietary concerns to animal rights and veganism” what is the harm in that?
oh…animal rights? You say that UGLY animals do not have the right to be defended? I didn’t realize you were the authority on the beauty of the world. We are all animals, whether or not you believe we are creatures of God, we all must exist on this planet in some sort of balance. We were not always the superior animal, yes we evolved, from apes. Fact.
you mention communication with animals. We’ve been able to teach chimps sign language. There have been studies on the language of dolphins, one of the most intelligent animals next to humans. And what is your point about the disappearing habitats? They are disappearing because HUMANS are cutting down trees and developing the land. We’re over populating and destroying ecosystems. Thats completely out of ‘paws’ of other animals, intelligent or not. We have big, scary machines. But does that give us the right to destroy the world with them?
ok, i’m getting off the topic of vegetarians now. next point….nutritional value of a vegetarian diet. This is taken directly from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat) “In recent years, the health benefits of meat as a regular part of the human diet have come into question. In a large-scale study, the consumption of red meat over a lifetime was found to raise the risk of cancer by 20 to 60 percent, while causing adverse mutations in DNA.[4] In particular, red meat was found to be a direct cause of cancers of the lung, esophagus, liver, and colon, among others.[4] Experts say that well planned vegetarian diets can satisfy all nutritional requirements, including protein and essential amino acids,[5] and aid in keeping body weight under control while substantially reducing risks of obesity[6] and a wide range of other common and potentially fatal ailments.[7][8] Animal fat is the only dietary source of cholesterol and one of the only dietary sources of saturated fat,[9] which have been linked to various health problems, including heart disease,[10] bowel cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer,[11] osteoporosis, and arteriosclerosis.[12] One famous study, the Nurses’ Health Study, followed about one-hundred-thousand female nurses and their eating habits. Nurses who ate the largest amount of animal fat were twice as likely to develop colon cancer as the nurses who ate the least amount of animal fat.[13][14]”
um…yeah. what do you have to say to that?
from someone who has seen her mother battle colon cancer….um, i think i have a pretty good reason to cut meat from my diet.

i didn’t even mention the diseases that can be transfered through meat. and didn’t we just have a big beef recall for all over this country, hmm?

by the way, COWS have ONE stomach with FOUR compartments. and as far as our bodies evolution in digesting meat…already we’ve changed to not needing the appendix to digest raw meat. And what if the path of evolution is towards vegetarianism? where is your proof of evolution moving in the OPPOSITE direction? I do believe it is you who is lacking in support of your claims.
but thanks for giving us your life story. i felt that was a very strong point to your argument, what you with your time.

the last point i’ll debate is your comment about vegetarianism being equal to feminism. Could you be any more chauvinistic? I see the point you’re trying to make, saying that vegetarianism is as forceful in pushing their ideals as feminism. I’m sorry. I’m a women. I enjoy my right to vote. I appreciate the opportunity to work for a living. Ohhhh boooo whoooooo toooo yoooooooou. How dare women demand equal rights. We really do suck. And I’m sure you think all feminists are bra burning lesbos that hate men. I’m sorry, sir, but that would be a misinformed opinion based on stereotypes derived from ignorance. the movement was started to provide EQUAL rights, between men and women. If you have a problem with women striving for equality than perhaps you have problem with other civil rights movements, African Americans,Jews, Homosexuals…. but thats starting a whole new debate that i hadn’t intended.

I simply couldn’t go on without your so called points, being challenged. so there. I hope i provided enough information to encourage some enlightenment on this topic. But if you need more sited examples, it would not be too much trouble to find.
but thats all i have to say for tonight.

  15. Christopher Says:

Ive pulled apart more cow stomaches than you ever will….their anatomy is suited to grass….ours is not….

Animal….no highter thought patterns….cant adapt to Humans….extinction just around the corner if situation changes…

Humans having too many children……not in the west, and I certainly don’t have any rugrats in my house….

UGLY animals ARE unloved, and nobody stands up for their rights…..as I say…the “small furry animal syndrome at work”

Vegetarianism….another euphamism for feminists to propogate their tired views….have a look at the number of women in homelss shelters compared to men….figures speak for themselves….women in the workplace are not in favour of anything that does not revolve around their ass…..I’m transferring the crew of an oilrig tender where the female geologist is running the ship with her attitude, due to her sexual relations with the captain…….so, because vegeism is another form of political correctness, you get attacked by people like me, with a few moments to spare….

When you girls can stop coming up with all these dietry FADS, and start living your lives as people instead of “somebody’s man”, then i might beleive what you have to say about nutrition….

AND, I just love coming onto public forums like this tired affair and scoring points with vege/femenazis…..WISE choices on nutrition indeed…

And Wikipedia?….Try going in there and CHANGING one of their history topics….even when you are right, Wiki will still withdraw your correction with some objection or another…..Ive tried, and had SOURCES, still doesnt work….WIKIPEDIA is about as reliable source for most subjects as this site is for nutrition….

In short, usage of the word asshole again qualifies your site as having LOST THE DEBATE….when you can do this without lowering your own Feminist standards, then you may be taken seriously for your eccentric views….

Until then, vegetarianism is just another health FAD…..and a poorly informed fad at that one…

    That FOUR points to me……

Take it on the chin…..stop attacking hunters and start getting out there and doing yourself a huge favour….IMPROVE your mind….

I run a job, am training at my own expence for another one, typing articles for history websites….not Wikipedia(thank Christ), and I still manage to find time to come on to silly sites likle this one and SHARPEN MY CLAWS on people such as yourself….

Thank heaven I don’t have a family to support….women have no place in my life…..thats what bars are for! To pick them up and discard them just as quickly….

I bet you don’t like that comment either, but thats the whole point of debates like this…same as for a bar….SCORING

  16. Christopher Says:

Thats game set and match to ME!

  17. Christopher Says:

MATCH POINT!!!! Thankyou linesmen, thankyou ballboys!

  18. Christopher Says:

AND…I am smart emough to realise that women do some jobs a lot better than men….so lets have some seperation of women in the workplace, thankyou very much…..I would love to see every political representative onearth as a WOMAN….

GO HILARY CLINTON….women politicians GET THIGS DONE…men use politics as an ego inflation source of power….does this opinion suprise you?…..

I’m not for EQUALITY…women are wired differently…so lets see exactly WHAT they ARE best at and give them every oppurtunity to shine…I’ve seen to many manipulative women ion the workplace to have a differing opinion on that score….I’m for seperation of the sexes for the sake of using himan resources in the most efficient manner possible….

So, not as ill informed or predjudiced as what you first thought…..ANOTHER POINT TO ME!….it’s easy to score points on sites like this….you BITE SO EASILY

    HAPPY HUNTING~!

  19. Christopher Says:

THESE COMMENTS were brought to you by the FEMINIST BACKLASH…..no animals were harmed in it’s production…

  20. Christopher Says:

Juat looking back at your tawdry comment….no…I DONT have a problem with civil rights….just women’s rights abused by pushy girls with nothing more than their own bankaccount in mind…..

Women in the workplace ought to take a good look at their actions as WORKERS….there are times in a Boning Room when you don’t have time to be NICE, and get caught up in the whole “sexist” thing, mainly from women making personal complaints at people like myself who don’t have to bow down to their antics…..

As I said before, go down and do some REAL research into equality….have a look at your nearest homeless shelter…..the stats are 10/1 average men to women…..If ’security’ and a house and two cars are all so important, WHY don’t more women go out and EARN IT FOR THEMSELVES….

Marriage stats….marriages are breaking down fast, due to the incompatability of the sexes….if having children is so important to women, PAY FOR IT YOURSELF….theres equality in action…..

How many men do you get in here commenting on recipes and nutrition?….NOT MANY from what I can see…this is why I chose your site to sharpen my claws on….I just KNEW I would get a bight from the “bitchy” majority that hangs in silly sites like this one, handing out nutritional advice and tearing at the fabric of society, bit by bit…..

“Polite Society” has had it’s time with the Feminist movement…and it FAILED….the backlash from people like me WILL CONTINUE….while ever you congregate in groups and rave about “rights” without going out there and doing it for yourselves, you will be attacked by people like me that have seen “Equality” in action, both in society and the workplace.

Face it….WHEN you girls can stop being the “power behind the throne” and using your breasts to manipulate those unfortunates around you that don’t have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to you, then, and only then, will we have a society that is in any way “Equal”….

Until that day dawns, women will always congregate in groups and complain about this and that…..and never get it done ON THEIR OWN, without having to generate sexual tension just to get the job done…..

OLD HINDU SAYING…..”A thousand moustaches can live together in peace and harmony for 100 years….BUT NEVER FOUR BREASTS”

The Feminist BACKLASH IS ALIVE…and functioning…..lets see how this generation of lazy, semi-educated kids handles it….they won’t like it any more than I do, especially the boys, having all the things that make them MEN “altered” in the name of EQUALITY…..

HA! I won the REMATCH AS WELL!

  21. Christopher Says:

I will be top commenter very soon….and you people will learn to be EQUAL, and what EQUALITY really means….I quote Orwell…

ALL animals are equal to all other animals, but some animals are more equal than others.”
