Find Sale Produce at Local Orchards this Winter
Yesterday, while hanging out with my sister and her 3-year-old son, I discovered another fantastic way to save money on produce. During the winter, the “off season” of most produce, local farms, orchards, etc. find it much harder to get customers … so they offer sales!
We went shopping at Linvilla Orchards, where all vegetables are 50 percent off right now, and I got everything in this picture for less than $4. That’s 25 cents for 1/2 lb. of kale, 99 cents for a pint of cherry tomatoes, 40 cents for a green pepper, 64 cents for a medium eggplant, 57 cents for two handfuls of tiny red potatoes, 29 cents for half a head of cabbage, and 64 cents for a bag of organic carrots.
If you haven’t stopped by your local produce picking place lately, give it a visit! If you aren’t sure where to find one near you, try searching All About Apples’ orchard directory.
