Adventures in Wedding Land
At my cousin’s recent wedding, I encountered two interesting people:
1. I had the most amazing catering waitress ever. Wondering what I would be eating at a reception where everyone would be receiving the chicken dish, I went to catering manager before dinner was served and asked if there would be a vegan alternative. Much to my surprise, she had me marked down as being vegetarian! She switched it to vegan, and said that she would let my waitress know.
Enter the most amazing catering waitress ever. As people were bringing out the Caesar salads (containing anchovy paste, cheese, and milk products), my waitress soon swooped in. She brought me a house-style salad with a side container of raspberry vinaigrette dressing. She even knew to leave off the croutons, which likely had cheese. For dinner, she served me an array of fresh, lightly cooked, lightly seasoned vegetables. For dessert, she knew I wouldn’t be eating the rich chocolate cake, and didn’t tempt me by offering it to me (dessert is my weak spot).
Hence, she was the most amazing catering waitress ever.
2. Then I met a boy. We danced, he got my number, and we talked a few times after. Then this conversation happened one day:
Him: How was your weekend? I had a nice, relaxing one - I spent the whole time fishing.
Me: Awkward pause. I guess I haven’t mentioned that I’m a vegetarian.
Him: Oh. I guess I shouldn’t tell you that I am an avid hunter then.
Me: No. You probably shouldn’t.

I was a witness to this amazing treatment! Don’t forget the cousin and Aunt who seemed to have alerted them to your attendance. It was a lovely event for all.

As a caterer, I can tell you that most of my brides love destination weddings. I have been in business 20 years and each and every bride starts with a venue, than catering, photography, video, dj( in that particular order most of the times). Great article, I enjoyed it very much
